Part II of Ryan Gray's That Which Lights Your Way series of works, Refraction explored the physics of waves moving through a medium, creating a microcosm of contemporary circus and interactive light. As projection designer and operator, I was tasked with creating projections which interacted live with the movement and the music of each performance. The projector's light became a character itself and was vital to the show since majority of the stage light came from the projectors, and the hazy room allow the audience to see the beams shift and travel through the air. One projector was mounted above the performance space and the second was mounted for front projection. My designs included a moving spotlight, sound interactive shapes, live drawing on the performance space floor for the cyr wheel act, and geometric shapes. I worked primarily in and operated the projections live from Isadora.
